HONOLULU -

Pali Highway in the Kailua-bound direction between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway is closed Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for slope work in response to recent mudslides.

Crews will be out trimming trees and removing boulders from the slopes near the Kailua-bound lanes of Pali Highway.

The work is in response to a mudslide that happened on January 3.  The mudslide just past the tunnels caused the highway to be closed for several hours.  The Department of Transportation is hoping to prevent similar incidents.

Motorists are advised to use Likelike Highway ofr the H-3 Freeway as alternate routes.
