A doctor’s note has delayed the sentencing for the man accused of causing a deadly dam breach on Kauai.

Physicians for Jimmy Pflueger say the retired car dealer is dealing with several medical problems, including leg problems, due to nerve damage and severe arthritis.

Last week, doctors say they removed a cancerous lesion from his leg, and advised him not to travel for six weeks effectively delaying his sentencing.

Last year, the 87-year-old pleaded no contest for his role in the Ka Loko Dam break in 2006. The dam break caused a flood of muddy water that swept seven people to their deaths.

Pflueger's sentencing has been moved to Apr. 10.
