The Hawaii Department of Transportation closed lanes Monday on Kalanianaole Highway between Hanauma Bay and Sandy Beach for emergency bridge repairs.
The highway will be closed between Lunalilo Home Road and Kealahou Street through Friday, Oct. 11 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Traffic will be contraflowed. The work is expected to continue through the end of the year.
There will also be a full road closure between the Koko Head Shooting Range Complex and the Halona Blowhole Lookout, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Motorists are advised to use Kealahou Street and Lunalilo Home Road as detour routes.

Repair to the Ihiihilauakea Bridge includes spall barrier and road repairs, followed with a carbon fiber wrap installation for reinforcement.
Project cost is estimated at approximately $2.4 million.
Motorists are advised to use Kealahou Street and Lunalilo Home Road as a detour route around the work zone.
Motorists are also advised to anticipate delays and to drive with caution through the work area.
