Retired Army Lt. General Francis Wiercinski took the time to talk story with anyone who showed up to meet one of UH's two candidates, but many in the crowd weren't marching to his tune.
Some interrupted him, criticized his military background and questioned his values.
But others applaud Wiercinski's thick skin because he was able to brush off the nay sayers and continue to spread his message.
Wiercinski is one of two candidates left in line to become UH's next president.
Wiercinski knows the criticism comes with the territory, but pointed out his experience in his last job.
UH's Board of regents expect to pick the universities next president by mid-June.
Wiercinski has four more state-wide public forums.
