PEARL CITY, Hawaii -

Honolulu police say a 25-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Pearl City Friday morning.

The medical examiner identified the man as James Stayton of Pearl City.

Investigators say speed appears to be a factor.  It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor.

It happened on Kaahumanu Street near Komo Mai Drive just after 1 a.m.

Emergency Medical Services officials say the man was hospitalized in extremely critical condition after he crashed his motorcycle into a parked vehicle. The man died later at Pali Momi Medical Center.

This was the 53rd traffic fatality on Oahu in 2013 compared with 57 at this time last year.
