HONOLULU -

Honolulu police closed off access to the Young Brothers facility at Piers 39 and 40 Monday morning as officers investigate a traffic incident in the area.

Police and paramedics were called to the area just before 10 a.m.

Police say a 43-year-old female security guard for Young Brothers was helping to direct traffic when she was knocked over and run over by a tractor trailer.

"The right rear tires of that trailer knocked her down and pinned her," said Maj. Lester Hite.  "The lower part of her body was pinned.  She left the scene in critical condition."

Police say her condition has since stabilized.

The tractor trailer was not carrying a load at the time of the accident.

Harbor police were diverting trucks heading to Piers 39 or 40 to the gate on Auiki Street.

Young Brothers President Glenn Hong said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with her for a full and speedy recovery, as well as with her family, co-workers and everyone affected.  We take the safety of our operations very seriously, and we are cooperating with the Honolulu Police Department to ensure is has all information that may be helpful in relation to this accident."
