Honolulu police are investigating after a man's body was found floating in waters off Waikiki.
The discovery was made at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses say they saw the body in the water close to the shoreline behind the statue of Prince Kuhio in Waikiki.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the man to be in his 60s.
Researchers have been collecting box jellyfish in this same area.
"It's a real shock to hear about a body being found here. We've been here the last three nights. I mean, it's just shocking to hear," said Bert Weaks, a University of Hawaii lab technician.
The Honolulu medical examiner is investigating the cause of death.
