Man who died in Maili crash identified

Emergency Medical Services officials say a man died in a truck crash in Waianae early Tuesday.

WAIANAE, Hawaii -

The Honolulu medical examiner released the identity of a man who died in a truck crash in Maili early Tuesday.

The man was identified as 31-year-old Edward Aipa of Waianae.

Police say Aipa was driving a truck that went off Paakea Road around 2:10 a.m.  The truck climbed an embankment and hit several boulders before crashing into a utility pole.

Aipa died at the scene, according to Emergency Medical Services officials.

A man was found dead after a crash in Maili early Tuesday, according to Emergency Medical Services officials.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash.

This is the 51st traffic fatality on Oahu compared with 53 at the same time last year.
