Police make arrest in Puna murder case

David True Seal, 34, of Puna has been arrested on suspicion of killing an acquaintance.

HILO, Hawaii -

Big Island police have identified a man arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing in Puna on Tuesday afternoon in the Eden Roc subdivision.

The suspect is identified as 34-year-old David True Seal of Mountain View. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives continue the investigation.

The victim was officially pronounced dead at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday at Hilo Medical Center.  The victim was identified by police as 32-year-old Rory Thompson Wick of Mountain View.

Police say Seal and Wick knew each other.

Seal escaped from the Hawaii State Hospital in Kaneohe in December 2009.  He was previously charged with sexual assault and kidnapping on Maui, but was acquitted by reason of insanity.
