Police: Prison inmate escapes, steals firetruck

BOLEY, Okla. -

An escaped inmate is wanted in connection with the theft of a fire truck stolen from a central Oklahoma fire department, said a Boley police official. The truck was last seen on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike headed toward Missouri

According to police, the inmate, who was not identified, is from the John H. L. Lilley correctional facility in Boley and escaped early Wednesday morning.

Officials informed the Boley Fire Chief Rashawn Jones the inmate went through a toll gate, telling the gate attendant he was delivering the fire truck to a fire department in Missouri. Turnpike attendants became suspicious and alerted law enforcement.
