Sewage has entered into the Canal after a Sewage Spill at the McCully Shopping Center. Health officials say that 1,000 to 5,000 gallons of sewage overflowed out into the street - and they believe some entered into the canal.

Clean Water Branch officials reported that between 1,000 and 5,000 gallons of sewage spilled out of the McCully Shopping Center Saturday afternoon.

Officials also reported that some of the sewage may have entered the Ala Wai Canal.

The Department of Health will be posting up warning signs and is advising residents to stay out of the Ala Wai Canal from Ala Wai Elementary to the Ala Moana bridge.
