St. Louis alumni rescue school with $7 million

The alumni association of St. Louis School stepped in and saved the school financially.

HONOLULU -

The St. Louis Alumni Association says it agreed to help St. Louis School by signing loans totaling $7 million.

School officials say that what the school needs right now.

Enrollment at St. Louis School in Kaimuki is down to 540 this year.  The school needs 580 students to break even.

More than 200 St. Louis alumni turned out for a meeting Thursday night to vote on the funding issue.

After hours of discussion, the alumni voted overwhelmingly to help the school.
