HONOLULU -

It was a bizarre scene in Waikiki Saturday night. Witnesses saw a semi-truck driving down the wrong way on Kalakaua Avenue ending up on the beach.

Police said the commotion started around 11:40 p.m. Saturday night.  Witnesses reported the truck being driven hazardously near Kapiolani Park.

Police said the driver eventually came back into Waikiki, driving the wrong way on Kalakaua Avenue, crashing through some trees and ending up on the sand.

The Honolulu Fire Department assisted police in locating the driver.  He was finally pulled out of the water and arrested around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning.  The 44-year-old has been arrested on numerous traffic violations and auto theft.

No injuries were reported.
