Superman and Captain America took some time to wash the windows at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth on Thursday.

Hospital officials said a young patient was scared after seeing the work done, so they decided to make the routine task a little more interesting.

The crew donned superhero uniforms and delighted the children. Doctors said these kinds of experiences can help a kid persevere through a tough time.

"It really just brightens their days, not just for the kids but for their families," Susan Taylor, a Child Life Specialist, said. "Kids are dealing with pretty extraordinary circumstances when they're here. Something like this is something they'll probably remember forever."

Superman, Captain America and the rest of the maintenance crew said it was an honor to do the work.
