The state Department of Public Safety says a suspicious package left at Circuit Court near Punchbowl Street and Halekauwila Street Thursday morning has been rendered safe.
Honolulu police say the roads were reopened just before 11 a.m.
Halekauwila Street was blocked at Punchbowl Street earlier in the morning, according to officials.
Police say the bomb squad detonated the package at 9:40 a.m. No word on the exact contents of the package.
The Circuit Court building was closed during the investigation.
State Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Toni Schwartz says a bomb threat was made to police at 6 a.m. Thursday. The call said a bomb would explode at noon.
A suspicious package in plastic was found outside the courthouse at about 6:30 a.m.
All nearby schools and businesses were notified. State labor and taxation buildings nearby were evacuated.
Judiciary spokesman Mark Santoki says no other courthouses were affected.
A police robot inspected the package and a sheriff K-9 team searched the Circuit Court building.
Circuit Court is scheduled to reopen at 1 p.m.
Federal courts will be closed for the rest of the day.
