Two Maili men arrested after fight escalates to gunfire
Two Maili men were arrested after an afternoon fight erupted into gunfire on Farrington Highway Thursday.
According to police, a HPD sergeant was driving along Farrington Highway near Hakimo Road around 3:15 p.m. Thursday when he noticed a fight on the side of the highway.
After pulling over, the sergeant reportedly heard a gunshot and located the man who allegedly fired the weapon.
That suspect, a 27-year-old man, attempted to flee on a moped but was later apprehended.
According to police, that suspects brother, a 28-year-old man, supplied the gun and handed it over to the alleged shooter.
The alleged shooter was arrested on three felony counts including place to keep a firearm, reckless endangerment and terroristic threatening.
His brother was arrested on three misdemeanor counts.
Witnesses reported several police units in the area, which caused a traffic backup along the one-lane highway on Oahu's Leeward Coast.
No charges have been filed yet against the brothers.
