UH officials have presented a two-year study about the health of Native Hawaiians to four state legislature committees.
UH says its the most comprehensive collection of data focusing on what is working, and what challenges remain in the health status of Native Hawaiians, Filipinos and other Pacific Islanders.
Researchers found that life expectancy for Native Hawaiians is still 6.2 years lower than the state average. That it has improved by 11.8 years since 1950.
The study also found the infant mortality rates for Native Hawaiians have improved over the past 25 years.
