Water main break closes lanes on Dillingham Blvd.

A 12-inch water main broke just before afternoon rush hour Monday, and jammed up traffic off Dillingham Boulevard.

HONOLULU -

Honolulu police say some lanes near the intersection of Dillingham Boulevard and Kohou Street are closed Monday afternoon due to a water main break.

The announcement was made at around 2:45 p.m.

Police say the Ewa-bound lanes on Dillingham Boulevard between Kokea Street and Kohou Street are closed.  All lanes on Kohou Street are also closed between Kaumualii Street and Dillingham Boulevard.

The Board of Water Supply says it's a 12-inch main break.  Crews are responding to the scene.

Ewa-bound traffic on Dillingham Boulevard is being detoured onto Kokea Street. 

The Board of Water Supply says repair work is expected to continue into the overnight hours and possibly Tuesday morning.

No customers are affected by the break, which was reported at around 2 p.m.
