HONOLULU -

Honolulu police say the two far westbound lanes and one far eastbound lane on Kalakaua Avenue between McCully Street and Ala Wai Boulevard were reopened early Thursday morning after repairs were made to a 6-inch water line.

This is the area fronting the Waikiki Landmark on Kalakaua Avenue.

The break was reported at around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Board of Water Supply says it was a break to a 6-inch fire hydrant lateral, the line that connects the hydrant to the water main, and crews responded.

No customers were affected by the break.

Repairs were completed by 6:42 p.m. Wednesday, but crews remained to fix the road.

At around 7:30 p.m., an additional break was found in the 6-inch water line.

Repairs were completed to the water line and the road and the roads were reopened by 1:15 a.m. Thursday.
