A woman on board a plane that blew a tire while taking off Thursday evening took a "selfie" moments after the incident.

A US Airways spokesman said witnesses recalled seeing the plane "bounce" before screeching to a halt.

Citing initial reports, US Airways spokesman Todd Lehmacher told CNN the commercial airliner's pilot decided to abort takeoff after the tire issue. Philadelphia International Airport tweeted, and photos indicate, that the plane's nose gear collapsed.

The woman who took the selfie, Hannah Udren, posted the photo on her Twitter account @han_horan.

In her tweet, she said, "So my plane just crashed ... I almost died."

WDSU anchor Scott Walker spoke with Udren, a future Tulane University student, Thursday night on the phone and asked her about the selfie seen around the world.

“I took a selfie because I knew my parents wouldn’t believe me and I had to prove it to them,” she said. “It was pretty scary. Everyone on the plane was screaming. People were yelling like, ‘Evacuate! We see fire!’ It was a pretty hectic moment but I was right near the exit. So I got out pretty quickly. So it wasn’t too bad.”

Udren said she is attending Tulane University in the fall and looking forward to moving to New Orleans.

Flight 1702 was scheduled to take off at 5:50 p.m. and arrive in Fort Lauderdale about three hours later, according to US Airways' website, though Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters said the incident took place around 6:25 p.m.
