Ferrets disguised as poodles

If you’ve ever thought about pet shopping in Argentina, be sure to double check which species you’re buying.

A tourist shopping at La Salada, Buenos Aires’ largest bazaar, thought he had purchased two toy poodles at the low price of $150, according to the Daily Mail’s translation of a Buenos Aires television station’s report.

But when he took his new pets to the veterinarian for vaccinations, they turned out to be two well-groomed, fluffy ferrets. The so-called "Brazilian rats" had been given steroids when they were young to make them grow to the size of toy poodles, according to the Daily Mail's translation.

Ferrets aren’t only being disguised as poodles – the TV station found a woman with a similar story who thought she had bought a Chihuahua, according to the Daily Mail. Neither new pet owner has filed a complaint.
