Kahuku dominated Punahou Friday night 42-20 at Aloha Stadium to win the HHSAA Division I state championship for 2012.
The Red Raiders took a 21-0 lead into halftime. Aofaga Wily began the scoring with a 53-yard run in the second quarter.
Kahuku even had a trick play up its sleeves with an 11-yard pass from Viliami Livai to Will Cravens and a lateral pass to Kawehena Johnson that went 53 yards for the touchdown.
The Buffanblu scored 14 straight points in the third quarter to get within seven points. But, Kahuku outscored Punahou 21-6 in the fourth quarter to defend its state title.
