The McKinley Tigers gets its first win of the regular season Friday after dominating the Kaimuki Bulldogs 45-31.
The Tigers went up big in the first quarter 19-0, including a 64-yard pass from quarterback Denzel Kalahiki-Gasper to running back Gerime Bradley.
McKinley had a balanced attack -- 275 yards in the air and 224 yards on the ground -- and the Bulldogs played catch-up all night.
Kaimuki quarterback Kainalu Spencer finished the night with 135 yards passing with a passing touchdown and a running TD.
But it was Kalahiki-Gasper who seemed to do it all: a 66-percent passing completion rate for 275 yards on the night with three passing touchdowns. He also was the second-leading rusher on the team with seven rushes for 67 yards and two rushing touchdowns. However, Kalahiki-Gasper did have two interceptions.
It doesn't get easier for either of these teams in the OIA Red Division. McKinley's next game is at Kahuku on Sept. 7. Kaimuki takes on Farrington on Sept. 1.
