Gouveia named to UH football staff
Inaugural Polynesian Football Hall of Famer Kurt Gouveia, 49, was named to the University of Hawaii football staff as the new linebackers coach.
The Wai'anae High School graduate led the Seariders to three state titles. He was Player of the Year on offense and defense, then went on to Brigham Young University where he won an NCAA football title in 1984.
He's the only Hawaii high school football player with a state title, a national college football title, and a Super Bowl win.
Gouveia is expected to coach the outside linebackers. Graduate assistant Jordan Wynn, who took over some playcalling when offensive coordinator Aaron Price was fired, has been promoted to quarterbacks coach.
The Rainbow Warriors open spring football on April 1.
